Post by kidw/32+systems »

the other day i was thing about a Xboxp as an old person walked by and i thought of a xbox in a walker i thought it would be perfect w/ th Xbox on a shelf, controller in the grips, and a screen on the cross bar
it would look cool and dumb at the same time
or in a backpack w/ a screen and cotroller combo

and now you think im stupid to the max

I've been considering doing an XBox in an attache, like the guy in a few threads down, only improving on his design greatly (mine would be totally more female of the dog species'). But lack of funds sets the project back.

if i ever made one, it would just be a normal to big to be normal handheld. it might be a bit huge but it would work. i don't want to have any backpacks or any of that stuff, just a normal handheld

it's basically a computer. i have plenty of computer guts laying around so i know how much it would weigh; it's not too heavy, especially if you replace the DVD drive

Look the best way to package the xbox for it to be portble is in a laptop. Get an old laptop case, mod your xbox so you can save games on the hard drive and dont need the DVD-rom, and replave the stock hard drive with a laptop hard drive. The case has a compartment for batteries, get a custom DC-DC converter, and where the keyboard was I'd say just put all the standard ports (A/V, controller ports, power/reset buttons.

If you cant find a old laptop case make one, there are a bunch of members here who have experiance with Acrylic and vacumme forming if you cant do it yourself.

^I agree with Sparkfist if you look through the old threads like last year Link89 had an Idea of an Xboxp and so did I I even modded a mobo. We both and the rest of the members relized that we had to do a loptop design I got an old laptop case, but then later found it collecting dust on my work bench. I'll get back to it one day and my SSP

One thing to note is if Jack or anyone else do that Laptop thing you'll have to get a much shorter heat sink. I know the heat sink in my Xbox is about 2 inches tall. So if you spread it out or have the fan positioned closet to the heat sink you should be fine.

A laptop Xbox is probably not the best way, the Xbox would probably overheat. A slimline briefcase would probably work and look better. Get one of those aluminum ones that look really cool and put a giant screen in the top half with the batteries behind it. It would be expensive, but extremely cool. You could even spray-paint it black and rip the metal to make it look like the logo.

Well, you can probably fit about 4 average size DVD player batteries into the top half of a briefcase, and that would give you a LOT of playing time. The only thing to worry about in this case is the fact that most giant LCDs won't work well when modded with LEDs, using enough LEDs to get a decent picture will probably equal the same mAH that you saved by removing the bulb.

It would still be cooler then a powerbook.

Yes and no. To me, it wouldn't be because well, it's an Xbox, and though I am not opposed to giving ideas and information about a portable Xbox, I am opposed to owning or playing one. To someone else, it might be--if it were in a briefcase and they liked the Xbox.
