they are of different formats, and even with a proper TV the signal gets weak over just 50 or so miles. I don't even want to know what 6,000 would do to it.
or there's the easy way. download them...like us american's do.
Usenet really is your best friend. It's how I get my quality european programming...why won't they air the new Dr. Who here?

I think you'd need to get some sort of sattelite TV service to get US television.
But reaperman's right. Download them from a peer-to-peer file-sharing program. It's the American way!

See if your local satellite providers have American channels, if you want

From Germany you should be able to recieve Sky, the UK's commercial satellite service. I've noticed that for a lot of popular US shows (The Simpsons, Malcolm In The Middle, Friends) the delay has been reduced to only a few weeks, with most other shows being no more than a couple of months usually (Star Trek Enterprise, Monk, Joey).
What's the situation like in Germany?

SG-1 is on season 9, Atlantis on 2, Battlestar Galactica on 2. Didn't Enterprise end?

You could always buy an NTSC TV, a region 1 DVD player, and an international power adaptor for US to German outlets... then you could buy DVD sets of the TV shows you want to watch through Amazon.com or something...
Or buy an extra DVD player for your region and play an American region 1 DVD in it, and ONLY PLAY region 1 dvds in THAT PLAYER! (Some DVD players can change regions up to 5 times, if I remember right...)

But I dont think season 8 of SG-1 is out, and only three episodes of S9 have been aired. I think he wants more immediate results.

Or he could just buy a region-free DVD player.bicostp wrote:You could always buy an NTSC TV, a region 1 DVD player, and an international power adaptor for US to German outlets... then you could buy DVD sets of the TV shows you want to watch through Amazon.com or something...

Enterprise was cancelled due to lackluster ratings, IIRC. But that's what they get for moving it from Wednesdays (relatively SciFi free) to Friday (when SG1, SG:A, and Battlestar Galactica are on). I think the show had some potential, and it had its good moments, but I definitely preferred Deep Space 9 and Voyager (esp. DS9, my all time fave ST series). However, out of all the series I've just mentioned, I think Battlestar Galactica is the best. SG1 just won't be the same with Jack 'MacGyver' O'Neil, even though Ben Browder is awesome too (they should have brought Farscape back instead).Kai wrote:I watched stargate till episode 16 of season 8 (its out on dvd with german sound but not on air so i lend it) sga I've seen season1 which was on air and enterprise season4 till episode 11

I doubt the signal would stretch quite as far as the USxxxeagle wrote:Yeah I saw some sky stuff on ebay if I bought a sky system I wonder if I could get it activated in the U.S. if not I could just get a hacked receiver card. Anyone know if sky has any good channels and do they have a lot of U.S. stations on it?
Here's a map of how far the signal will stretch: http://www.brymar.co.uk/info/Astra/astr ... a_sky.html
