New Coldheat

Apparently, there's a newer version of the coldheat soldering tool at ThinkGeek. I don't actually have a coldheat, but I've always thought that they looked spectacular.

With the cold heats, you kind of have to learn how to solder all over again. It's nice if you want to do that, but I like my normal iron

My dad, on the other hand, has learned it and really loves it

i have the first version coldheat,its really great. but dont beleive when it says instantly drops its temperature,and its sfe to touch., i "accidentally" touched the tip while soldering a old computer mobo for practice. screamed like a little girl.but after soldering ,you can touch it within a seconsd and its cold

my coldheat died the week I got it...
I didn't like having to blob solder on the iron either.

sure there'll be a few Sears do-it-yourselfers, who don't know any better better, and will be more than happy to waste some cash on it. But everybody else got suckered, and angered by the first unit.

I swear I'll hit the guy that turns these out if I ever meet him.

Too many batteries! I don't use it, since my tip always gets messed up.

I hate mine. You really do have to learn to solder all over again, because it is completely different from a standard solderring iron. I wanted it because it was cordless, but it is too fat to get in some places. I also find it very uncomfortable to hold.

I don't bother with those battery-operated soldering tools; if I need to solder something I just pull out my real iorn and use that. I don't mind waiting, and there's no batteries to replace.

YEAH! Weller kicks ass! Don't give me any of that crappy plastic, battery powered excrement! Remember kids, real men use weller irons
