CD format?

I'm guessing you mean audio CDs, they are AIFF files and audio CD format.

PC burned CDs are either ISO or Joliet, Mac ones are HFS or HFS+, PSone are ISO, and I don't know any others you might want.

I'm not sure what format Audio CDs are in... I think they aren't encoded ion any way, jsut the 1's and 0's that dictate when the speaker vibrates (sort of like record grooves)

Just keep in mind that the audio CD format was first devised in the late 70's-early 80's. (I think... I could be wrong...)

Audio CDs are encoded. 'ISO 9660 Red Book' is the standard by which they are encoded. http://users.pandora.be/it3.consultants ... O9960.html

I kind of figured they format is encoded somehow, I just didn't think the audio data was.

Can I copy a movie from the computer on to a dvd in lets say avi format and play it on a dvd player?

Yes, but first it would have to be converted to MPEG2 with the correct bitrate, framerate, resolution, etc. Unless you have one of those Divx-compatible players. They often can play a lot of different file types.

So what framerate ect. would I need for a toshiba?

It doesn't matter what brand it is, all DVD players require the same kind of files.

DVD Video isn't just MPEG videos thrown on a DVD disc. You need DVD burning software. Or you can make VCDs with Nero, as I do. (As long as your PC has the codecs on it for the video, Nero can make a VCD.)

And yeah, you need a program to build a disc that will play in any player. That is, unless you know the scripting language used to make DVDs.

Can a vcd play on a dvd player and yes I do have a dvd burner on my computer.
