I think I figured it out...something on my atari board is overheating and preventing it from working, it makes sense because it works for about 30 seconds then i turn it off and it works for 20 seconds, and so on, something is overheating but i dont know what it is, any ideas?

Over heating? Never heard that. If the screen is coming back at regular intervoles it might be something with a cap. I say this as I dont know how the chips from that era over heated they generated so little heat and over such a large area they didnt need fans or heat sinks.

it only comes back when i turn the whole system off and back on, but then it only works for a split second and stops, almost like its not getting enough power

What type of battery set up are you using with your VCSp? Are you inputing 6v? Cause if it is then thats your problem. The 78xx regulators only work properly when you have 2 or more volts above the output voltage.

im using a 7.5 volt battery
