What is the most saddest song you have heard in your life

Patches by Mike Lunsford, it is about a Guy and a girl the girl is dirt poor and the guy is fairly rich and the guys familly wont let the guy see the girl becouse she is poor. She gets the feeling that she was messed with so she Drowns herself in the dirty river that runs by the coal yards and her neighborhood. The Guy gets wind and he also kills himself to be with her

every time i listen to it i tear up

The Gift by The Velvet Underground. Its about a guy trying to get back with his ex in another state. So rather than go by plane, he puts himself in a box and airmails himself. When the girlfriend cant get the box open, she stabs the box with a big pair of shears, which go through the guy's (waldo's his name) head.

i actually love you for liking VU. but i liked that story.

saddest song is that Cat Power song, that for some reason i cannot remember the title (it is a cover apparently)

edit: I found a reason - Cat Power which is actually a VU song haha. But it is sad cause the way it is sung and the music in general. And when i was trippin out i thought i was in a movie, and i was dying (think Big Fish). It was sad, but i was happy that i was dying. It was wierd.

I heard part of a song on that Now Vol. 1 bajillion commercial, with the cartoon video for it. It sounded pretty sad to me.

Kind of like how the "Music we hate" thread turned into a "music we like" thread.

have you ever seen that futurama where frys dog is found and they where about to clone and reanimate him but fry decided that it would be to strange to clone his pet after they had been apart for 12 years.. then they flash back to the rest of the dogs life, all he had been doing was waiting for fry.. that song is way to freaking sad.

That was the only dog I've ever seen who could sing "I'm Walking on Sunshine".

Saddest Song Ever: Goodnight Saigon by Billy Joel
Some excerpts:
We met as soul mates on Parris Island
We left as inmates from an asylum
And we were sharp, as sharp as knives
And we were so gung ho to lay down our lives
We came in spastic like tameless horses
We left in plastic as numbered corpses
Remember Charlie, remember Baker
They left their childhood on every acre
And who was wrong? And who was right?
It didn't matter in the thick of the fight
And we would all go down together
We said we'd all go down together
Yes we would all go down together
You can get the complete lyrics here. (Watch out for popups, make sure you have a blocker on.)
"It's not that life's so short, it's just that you're dead for so long." -Anonymous
