leds?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Your LEDs are just fine. Infared light is invisible to the human eye. You bought the LEDs that make your TV remote work.
I hope you didn't pay too much for them, because those LEDs are useless for portablizing. (Unless you're repairing the IR transmitter on the GBC.)

Go to RadioShack and buy white LEDs.

Shoot them with a BB gun, Eat them, fix-up a remote for turning off and on you favorite system, or step on them.

get a crappy CMOS based camera. Webcams, and most cheap as hell security cameras will work. Take apart the lens assembaly and remove the ploarized glass in it. It looks kinda purpleish, and when you look at it at different angles, it turns different colors. Remove that from the webcam or security cam and your camera can now see IR. Use the LEDs to make an IR Flashlight. Use the IR cam, IR Flashlight and a screen and presto, night vision.
