gannon has some really cheap tact switches. You'd probably pay about $2 base for paypal fees, and then a few cents per button (you'd probably want 10, 4 for dpad, 1 for joystick, 1 for paddle, 2 for select/reset, and 2 just in case, since they're cheap.

As for video, find some phono plugs at, say, radio shack. The inside terminal goes to the video output point, and the outside goes to ground. Same goes with audio.

You use a switch to move between the internal screen and for an A/V output (extermal monitor).

I believe the trigger button works. Look as HK-47's guide to building a VCSp thread. The pinout for wiring up the controller should answer that question for sure.

DPDT. You need the seperate channels for the audio and video.

Don't worry about having a TPDT switch for the audio, as the VCS only supports mono sound natively. Just hook up 2 wires to the "audio-to-TV" point on the switch, 1 for the left hookup and 1 for the right. (That way you don't get that "one-speaker-works-the-other-doesn't" effect. It's kind of annoying.)

Can someone confirm that I'm reading this correctly:

http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/1624/pic3ht.png

Chroma "C" - 5th pin fromt the left
Audio "A" - Right above the 3rd pin from the left

1. add a button to the same point as "right" on the gamepad.

2. Not sure, make sure your connections are all right, I suppose.

Heres some more details on my problem:

Ok, when i turn it on it all works (video, audio) for about 10 seconds, then the screen turns black and the sound turns off. I turn the power off and back on and it does the same thing, but in 5 seconds, and everytime after that it gets quicker and quicker. If i wait about 20 min. it will go back to working for about 10 seconds....whats going on!?!!???! is this a power problem, like is the battery not strong enough?

Probably.

What's the voltage? I believe it has to be at least 6.5 or 7 volts of opwer going through the 7805 for it to work properly. Maybe there's only enough power during the initial startup power spike?

It might be the battery's capacity... if the screen and system draw more than the battery can put out continuously...

Did you use Ben's AV mod or another one? Because on the Cheephacks Atari Composite Comparison (see Spongey's sticky), a couple of the mods did exactly what you're describing. (however Ben's does not.)

You may want to check your wiring again.
