Battery holders...

Post by bioniclebert »

im looking to make my own AA battery holders, and I was wondering of a cheap way to make them. I want to make 2 AA battery holders that hold 2 batteries in each, vertically. Similar to bens NOAC nesp, but I dont have a machine to make my pieces. any parts or suggestions, that cost little to nothing to me?

Why cant you just buy them? You can use electrical tape to tape the batteries together.

Just tape all the batteries together, and tape the wires to the terminals.

I have an erector set somewhere that has perfect battery holders, but I don't know where it is, and I'd rather not sell it. If you can get a cheap set on ebay, make sure it's motorized, it may be just the thing.

I originally thought to do this, but then I remembered I had to remove the batteries. then i would have to add new tape each time I took em out.
any other ideas?

EDIT: I could get a couple of these:
http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/c ... type=store

but they dont look to good. Mabye order 6 of em so they dont burn up like others did, or mabye they arent aware to solder to the metal....

Sheet styrene (can you tell I like that stuff? :P) and thin aluminum or copper strips (copper will be easier to attach wires to). You should be able to get everything at a hobby supply store, including plastic cement. For the amount of material you need, it'll probably cost around $10. Not sure what to do about a spring though, which you'll probably need if you want to ensure good contact and a (adjustable) snug fit.

Alternatively you can buy a couple of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c ... =270%2D401
and connect them together,

or one of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c ... =270%2D407
and hack it apart.

Either of the latter options would probably be cheaper, and easier, than trying to make a good battery holder on your own.
