Shrinking the PSOne screen

I was wondering about something, when you do the LED mod on the PSOne screen, the top arc of the board basically becomes useless, so couldn't you just slice it off and efficently make the screen smaller? The only things left on it after the transformer are 2 little surface mount components that look like they fed the inverter in the first place and the back is completely blank (except for traces that fed the inverter). Am I on to something or just rambling on?

I believe your right and I hope so because that is the only way it will fit in my SNESp case

It is also something that could make for a good GCp, as the motherboard and optical drive board are both smaller than the PSOne LCD board by far. This mod would level them slightly for a smaller, sw33t3r handheld. I am looking to see an excellent follower to Gamelver's one. I'll just keep biding my timeâ€¦

Yeah, but even more awesome is plasma beam before Thardus (I have done this, it isn't that hard), or the new one, skipping the Varia suit entirely with 3 energy tanks! That is the awesomeist thing in the world! (And probably the hardest for that matter, the guy made it with 1 energy left.)

Getting back on topic, choose a straight line where you would like to cut the board, then slice through the traces. If it fails, you can just rejoin the traces.

BTW, I think gamey or somebody had figured this out a few months ago, and if they did, this isn't a revolution.

yes, it works fine

...in fact, everytime I get a psone screen and open it up, I just rip out the transformer and the area of pcb around it

....I also tried cutting off the bottom part of the board where all the inputs are...didn't quite work out

...oh well

just make sure you test it real quick before opening it up

...and by test, I mean play N64 on it for an hour, like I usually do

i chopped the top and side off mine (theres a blank part on one side!)
