Desoldering: detached solder pad
Am I basically screwed if I detached a solder pad? Can I still try to solder a wire there and hope that the solder makes contact with any trace (even though I can't really see any)? This is my SNES2 board!
Please help. Am I screwed?!

gannon I think it is a tripple layer board.
What side did the trace fall off if it's the dark side you cant see the traces it'll be hard to fix because there is another layer of copper over the traces.
You'll need to trace the top part of the board.

Well, remember I had screwed up a solder pad or two... now I've manage to break off one of those tiny resistors!
I was attempting to desolder the 7805 in my SNES2. First, I cut the chip off with some pliers so that I could remove a pin at a time, like I've read to do if you don't care about the component. Then I removed as much solder as possible with my spring pump thingy. Then I used some wick. I managed to get one of the pins out very nicely. But the other two were still attached and I couldn't seem to get rid of more solder, even though I still saw a tiny bit in the hole. So my impatient self resorted to trying pull and push the pins out. That's where I screwed up. The pliers I was using to try to push the pin out slipped and destroyed a resistor... those tiny kinds. I think my SNES portable project is a failure. I need to practice more on some old useless boards.
Can anyone help me? Is the tip of my iron bad? I tried to clean it and coat it with a little solder but the solder wouldn't stick. Is the surface of the tip fried? I really REALLY want to make a portable but now I'm just plain afraid to ruin any more expensive and RARE parts. I'm a programmer at the core. I can write code recklessly and fix it later. And I think I've been approaching this project the same way. Foolish me.
I'm very determined on making this myself too. I'm not that interested in buying a premade portable. *sigh* Maybe I'll just have to wait for Ben's book to come out. Thanks guys.

If you want you could buy the schematics to find out what you need to fix it. For the iron I would put a little flux on the tip and then some solder. That should make it stick. For soldering I would try working on junk to get better @ soldering before working on anymore systems. Maby you should start out with a easier poerable?
