Screen wont power on

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Screen wont power on

Post by atkafighter »

Hi,
My psone (unmodded) screen wont power on. I have the pin 1 (7.5v input) and pin 2 (ground) conneted to the snes mobo, and when i connect my 7.2v battery it doesn't power on (if i remove the screen the snes powers fine). Could the problem be my wires (ide cable maybe not enough voltage can be carried through it)? Or did I fry it (I think I had the ground and the power mixed once, but I haven't been able to power it since I cut off the ac adapter)? Im reluctant to try the 5v fix because I have yet to get it to run off of batteries.
Thanks

thin wires might be the problem. the way to fix that without replacing the wires is make sure the snes and screen get their own power wires like in this diagram.

if that isn't the problem, try the 5v fix

Well I tried the 5v fix and the psone screen still doesn't power on. My psone screen is unmodded so do you think I need a bigger battery? I tried to power the screen with only the 7.2v 1100mah battery but the battery itself may not be charged completely(I still can't find the charger). I'll go and buy a new battery and a charger. Any suggestions on a battery to power my snes and psone screen. What would be the power consumption on that anyway?

a good battery would be an RC car battery but if the screen won't work on that you could get a DVD player battery because they can be higher voltage and capacity. mine's 8.4v and powers it perfectly

Definetly make sure the battery is charged. That can easily mess you up. Also there is a fuse on the PSone screen on the power input. You might want to look into that.

So the psone screen can handle an 8.4v battery? Your screen is not led modded correct? I guess I'll go out and get a bigger battery. I did try to reconnect the ac adapter and it still will not power on. Again I'm only using pins 1 and 2 but I think that is enough to power it.

EDIT: In a last ditch effort I jumped both fuses and it worked but now I get no video and sound. Oh well back to work.

EDIT AGAIN: Nevermind, I got video and sound (by inserting a cartridge) now to find this damn charger.

The screen can handle between 7.2V and 9V.
