N64p guide!!!!!!!!

i never had a chance to test it with my N64 (N64 died :cry: ) but my psone games look great on it :D . 3.3v line takes about 1.33a and so that's 1.5 hours there but i forgot what to energy consumption of the 12v line is :oops: . i remember it's pretty low so it+screen would probably last 1-1.5 hours

Is that assuming the LED mod has been done?

and how did your N64 die (so I can try to avoid that mistake)?

i'm not sure if the 1-1.5 hours is with or without the LEd mod. it's probably closer to without the mod. i fried it by not being very careful with it. here's a thread about it

mine will get 2-2.5 with its 2 7.5v 2300mah battery packs :twisted:

My big question now is..

Why the (beep!) do you have to wire the same voltage to two different spots on the power-in jack? What possible reason could there be for that design?

probably so the higher current voltages get more wire so there's less resistance

hmmm...I should probably mention that two radioshack 7.2V battery packs is gonna be pretty damn heavy :P...just keep that in mind when designing your portables ;)...

Hmm... with my planned design, I won't be holding the part of the system with the batteries in it in my hands while playing, so the weight of the batteries isn't much of an issue...

Can I get a link to those battery packs? :twisted:

because batteries are expensive and the psone screen uses 7.5v so it means 1 less regulator!

Are you talking about the 3.3V line? You don't have to connect both holes with wire since the holes are connected already on the trace itself. Nintendo was just being stupid :P

So, they designed the plug with 6 jacks when it only needs 4? That IS stupid.

Ok, so I'm revising my planned N64p design. I want to get it down to one battery circuit so that I can hook up a charge and/or wall power adaptor without having to worry about inputting multiple voltages.

So, I'm thinking that something like this could be my power supply and I could just use a regulator to power the 3.3 volt circuit.
So, what's the best Radioshack part to do this?
Is it possible to use a resistor and a 7805 to get 3.3v? If so, what resistance do I need?
Or, is it possible to set this to 3.3v?

that battery will work and the adjustable regulator will work if you know how to use it. the 7805 + resistor will work but it's not very efficient. you can use the regulator and caps in the diagram in the guide
