squeel could you explain more about connecting those 200 uF capacitors casue i connected 220 uF to each ad it didn't work
You have to attach one end of a 200 uF capacitor to each of the Red, Green, and Blue outputs on the GC, and the other end to the R, G, and B spots on the screen.

And, C Sync in pin 5, and you want to use that, not composite.
and where did you find out that the c sync is pin 5 cause i don't find that anywhere?? I have a PAL gamecube and a PAL screen so the pinouts on the gamecube are different than the NTSC one

another thing i have a digital port on my gamecube what is it for??

Did you use ceramic caps?

You can't use composite as C SYNC, they aren't the same thing. To get C SYNC, combine H SYNC and V SYNC. I know that on the NTSC model, those are pins 21 and 22 of the D/A chip, but I don't know if it's the same on the PAL model.

The digital port is for a special cable for TVs with digital input, and I believe S-video.

No, it is for component video (the kind DVD players use), RGB and optical/coaxial audio. The latter 2 require a mod, specifically you must use the connector and part of the Nintendo component video cable and build a sync convertor and a S/PDIF decoder onto the other end. Then you can put a SCART port or a VGA port and an optical or coaxial connector in the box and use your high quality outs.

They also come in rectagular boxes, which is often what the higher values are.

How do you have your electroyltic caps connected on the lines?

First of all, sorry for bringing this question back, but I didn't find where I asked it until now.
usbcd36 wrote:I have a question now: with Ben's Atari video mod, would it be possible to do the same thing on a regular S-video output if composite doesn't have good contrast or correct colors on a pocket TV? I am speaking of a GameCube of course and there is too much red and the screen is too dark (ie, Metroid Prime is unplayable. I don't want to build a portable with this yet (I won't be using this GCN or this TV (it is passive matrix), but I do want a semi-portable until I get more stuff to build a real one. I know how Ben's mod works, but what leads on the s-video cable correspond to what spots on the pots (letter names please)?
Sparkfist wrote:Usbcd36, the video mod that Ben made for the Atari is to amplify the signal as previously it was too weak for a screen like the PSone monitor to use. If you want to use a different A/V signal be sure that the screen supports it. Most pocket tvs only take composite, and S-Video I've only heard of being used on say the monitors that come with DVD players (if you can find one). If you're looking to use a PSone screen with S-Video, sorry it doesnt support that type of video input.
I didn't explain clearly, I want to make a circuit that lets me adjust colors, brightness and contrast of a composite video signal. The easiest way that seems possible is to adjust luma and chroma from S-Video and combine them into composite, then use that on the TV. I am not trying to run straight S-Video into a pocket TV, nor do I care it is STN/passive matrix. The games look fine on it except for the darkness and the overly bright reds. How do I adjust the colors and the contrast of a video signal and end up with composite?

Edit: And yeah, I'm pissed.

I don't know where it is on the GCN, but I believe that both the PAL and NTSC have H SYNC and V SYNC(the are on the D/A chip, not through the multi-out). If you don't want to mess with the D/A, use the composite to C SYNC circuit posted in the Screen FAQ(it's a link under "Video Mods").

has anybody ever connected a pal gamecube to a pal screen??

and nobody has show me a diagram yet if someone would make a diagram of how everything has to connect then i can see if i done something wrong

please help me out with this I NEED RGB.

and another question:

i want to connect a controller straight to the motherboard is that possible

cause i woul think you would only need to find out which pin goes where and then connect it to the motherboard

if it's possible could someone post a pinout of the first controller port seeing as that's the only one i need
