melting the posts G-Forces way buy heating the screws with a soldering iron works great i just did and it was quite easy

Alright! I've had other people tell me it works too. I myself have oened 3 nintendo consoles using this method (GBO, N64, SNES mini). And the cases didn't get damaged either!

i actually wasnt a beleiver until i opened my NES cart with it and it was a breeze with a 30 watt iron

Since the 2600 does not use nintendo screws or anything to keep people from getting into it (all it has is a few simple phillips screws) I'm going to put this in Forum 42. If a mod there wants to lock it because of the previous one, go ahead.

All of these techniques have been put in a thread in the NES section, entitled "How to Remove Nintendo Screws".

So would anyone mind if I locked this? (I won't if it would be a problem.)

I was thinking of locking it already, but decided not to, since I wasn't sure. If you think it should, too then go ahead. By the way, I think the thread you made should probably go somewhere else, since the NES uses phillips screws

(ok, the toploader doesn't, but few have one of those)

Well, I guess the applicable mods can move it to the N64 section, then to the SNES section so there's a way to get to the screw-removal info from all the Nintendo-related sections easily.

If I remember right, the cartridges have the inverted-hex screws, and some of them have the famicom-cartridge-to-NES converter...
