why don't they just put cart slots on them? (rant)

you know what I mean, American TV-games. Why don't they just put cart slots on them and be done with them? Or onboard flash--why don't they go that way? Common flash cards is another way to go.

Why don't they realize that for $15 more in parts I'm willing to pay $50 more for a system? I don't think it's an uncommon view. why don't they just make these useful to start with?

seriously, why don't legitimate american TV-games pack the same functionality of asian pirates? Or are these just the first steps into the american market, and the best is still comming?

we spend time turning TV games into functional, portable systems, when there's already enough of a commercial market to support them in large quantities.

because you would be using someone elses game in there system the thought of them not getting your money burns there eyes

Because the TV game systems are almost all emulated, so carts wouldn't really work anyways...

this is true, but they're generally ported to (more or less) a noac system. Would it kill them to throw a 60 or 72-pin on there? NES units were all off-the-shelf parts to start with. There's no reason not to release something like all of the asian units. Or better...

Or a genesis. why not just call it something like the "Radica16" handheld system and be done with it. And throw a couple built-in games on there from companies that went under and have loose rights... If you want add-on sales, give it some more-than-genesis effects and sell separate games that use them.

and nintendo...don't get me started on them... They're actually researching a more powerful system that will never sell, when they could be cashing in on this rapidly growing area of the market--it's a Sony-free zone, they'd be the big fish again. Nintendo just hasn't caught up to the fact that they're already retro. They just haven't finished circling the drain yet. There's more of a market for them selling new NES games for noacs than anything like the revolution...

It'd be nice if Nintendo worked on _OACs. It'd settle the "software pirating" issue that they've been against for years.

Well we all want Nintendo to make a NOAC or SNOAC but if people went out and bought the old games then the only thing Nintendo would make is on the hardware. Ben's thing about hating Nintendo for repackaging systems and games is their way of making money on something. Sadly Sega gave up the hardware of video games and so they will not release a special revised version of the Genesis.

I think its great enough that things like the radica can have a cart slot installed and the C64 DTV can connect to the Disk Drive. Othewise your stuck with the idea of making your own chip if you want it that bad.

A guy is making a CF/HDD attachment for the DTV.
And the beta-testing DTV had an expansion port, so it can be added, but there isnt room to solder, maybe a future version will hold more hope.
