color distortion

i tested my psone screen to see if it works. it powers on and the picture shows up on the screen, but the color's very wierd

. it has this cap on it but it's for cleaning the power. do you think it might be causing this? if not, what might be the problem?

i was testing it out a bit and found out that the color distortion is the colors are opposite to what they're supposed to be and when i put the brightness all the way up, lines of correct color scroll up the screen

i did that already. when i got it, the seller said the video didn't work so i did the 5v thing before any testing. where have Mr.Mod and all the other senior members that know about this kind of stuff been?

PROBLEM SOLVED! i think. i tested the power with an 8.4v battery and the screen looked nornal instead of light grey so it might work but i don't have enough aligator clips or hands to test the power and video at the same time so i'm soldering on a battery conector. the problem is i don't know which wire from the battery connector that i'm soldering to id + and which one i -. one of them has a white line on it and the other one is blank. is there a standard for which one is + and -?
EDIT: i guessed striped is + and i was right

. i tested the video and i worked

. even better: it had the right colors

the adapter i tested it with earlier was the 7.5v adapter it came with
