what makes the phoenix such a big deal?

Post by BloodNess »

I was browsing ben's site when i kept my eye on the phoenix and started wondering: why is the phoenix such a big deal? what makes it different from the other ataris that ben has built, or any portable that ben has built?
and why did he take so much time building it?

Because an SNESp is much more difficult to build, and when a SNES mini is found, it's far more expensive than a VCS 4-switch.

I bet a SNES portable, if it was even plausible for one person to make them in mass quantities, would cost well over 600 dollars US in parts and labor.

Ben loves the atari more then anyother system out there. He's also on a never ending quest to make a better and smaller VCSp.

Now what makes the Phoenix so cool.
-Cheaper screen, but still the size always used
-Smaller size
-Cheaper construction (case)

I'm sure if you wanted to go after G-force for a mass produced system bysides atari. To date he's made over 3 N64 portables.

Also, Gamelver made 3, going on 4. Anyway, Ben likes the Phoenix because there will be a lot of them, since they are made relatively easily, meaning more money for him. Can't argue with that :D

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

I've been mulling over the idea of making some NES pocket units, after I finish the first one of course :) Which BTW, is REAAALLy close to done!
