Screens for the uk pal systems?

Post by spongebob »

Hi, i ordered the book from amazon.co.uk yesterday, it should come in a couple of days.

I have some questions i hope you can help me on.

1. I can't seem to find any 3" Casio EV-680 Pocket TV on ebay uk, is there another model i can use as long as it's 3 " like this?: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 74336&rd=1

2. I was gonna do the snes first as people say thats the easiest, i've got an old snes version like the one below will this work?

3. Which is the easiest console to make portable? nes, snes or psone?

any help would be great :)

Well, as long as you buy a PAL screen to match your PAL-format system and games, it will work.

Game system difficulty (1=easy, 10=OMFG HARD!)
----------------------------------------------------------
NES (from real mobo) 4
NES Toploader: 100,000,000 (you'd have to be insane to rip one apart)
NOAC 1-2
SNES (original) 4
SNES (mini) 3
PSX (old Playstation) 7
PSone (New playstation) 6
Xbox 10
Gamecube 8
PS2 9
PS2 mini 7
Genesis 1- 6
Genesis 2- 5
GOAC - 3
N64= 6
Dreamcast- 9

(opinions may vary)

you should make the one you like the most.
the easyness depends on (in no particular order):
-size of mobo
-easy to fry
-voltage
-# of voltages
-energy consumption
-amount of modding needed
the TV you found will most likely work if you can get composite video into it

Yeah the one you have has the inverted hex screws.

But you don't really need the special screwdrivers, you just have to use a lot of careful bruite force! (is that an oxymoron?)

ah nuts, i bought 2 tri screwdrivers off ebay.

does anyone know what the actual screwdriver is called for the snes?

also does anyone know that my snes is compatible to make a portable using the books instructions? (it's not the 1997 mini version)

you replied well fast while i was editing for spelling mistakes.

if the instructions in the book are compatible with only the 1997 mini version snes, or all snes's?

also i found the screwdriver, type in gamebit, and you'll find loads of them.

Just search eBay for 4.5mm Nintendo Screwdriver for the correct one.

hey! I'm the sponge around here

Oh well, welcome aboard! :D

I'm not sure about the SNES's, but since you don't seem to have your heart set on the SNES, you may want to consider another system. PSOne is slightly harder than NES, and that's about the same as SNES.

I think that every Nintendo system that came after the NES had GameBit or tri-wing screws. Removing specialized screws has its own topic that can be found in the N64 section. I like my solution, but you need to have a few metal files on hand to make it.
