I HAVE PUT MY GCp PROJECT TO START ON A NEW, MORE AFFORDABLE ONE. THE NEW VIRTUAL BOY, NO JOKE BUT IT GOES LIKE THIS:
LAPTOP COMPUTER HARDWARE IN A ''BACKPACK'' WITH KEYBOARD AND MOUSE CONECTED, ALL THIS CONNECTED TO A ''VR'' HELMET HERE'S IT IS:

A NEW GAMING EXPERIENCE...
FIRST I'LL MAKE A PROTOTYPE WITH A CHEAP LAPTOP FROM EBAY. IF I ALL GOES SMOOTHLY , I'LL MOVE ON TO A MORE POWERFUL LAPTOP. WHAT FOR: TO FEEL MY PC GAMES, FEEL MY UNREAL TOURNAMENT, HALF-LIFE, FPS IN GENERAL . TO FEEL LIKE THE ENEMIES ARE COMING FOR ME . SO ANY ADVICE AND HELP PLEASE POST. PICS WILL COME SOON.

Ahhhhh...capslock, my eyes are burning. anyway...sounds good...I was thinking of making somthing like that with just 2 Hipgear screens. How much is that gonna cost?, im guessing a lot.

Why not just purchase the head thing, and test it out on your desktop? Instead of wasting money on a crappy laptop with probably a slow CPU speed and integrated graphics?

I would think an older low-res unit might be a good option.

I'm not sure if it how it would do stereo without that $5 usb option and some software that I suspect is free somewhere.

with that and a backpack, I'd venture to say you can have a portable, darn-near-anything.

sounds cool... if you could somehow integrate force feedback to kind of jolt you when shot, that would be cool (though kinda hard)

remember those old vests that used to 'kick' you in the chest in time to music or (iirc) in reaction to n64 rumble. One of those could be easily modified. Of course with a vest, backpack, and 5lb of VR gear that's quite a load.

No one said that VR was light, most of the old school VR stuff weighted 10-20 pounds in the backpack.
