quick xbox voltage questions....

How many volts does the xbox take? Does it need two voltages like an N64? Oh and how much to the controller?

-12V means just that....negative 12 volts

!!!......you can get dc-dc converter (try a mini-itx one) that output negative voltages

You can also use 79XX negative voltage regulators to get the negative voltages.

Sorry, just did some research, and found that you will have to get -12V some other way, but you can still use a 7905 to get -5V, because it can take an input of -12V.

so i cant use the +DC to-DC convertor but the 79XX works? or do both of them not work? hmmmm... (we seriously need a "thinking" smiley)

No, use a +DC/-DC adaptor to get -12V, and then either use another +DC/-DC adaptor, or a 7905 to get -5V.

if you're gonna split the controller, i big one would be good. if you're gonna do that one thing that doesn't involve the controller case, use a small one

If you can solder well use a S because its smaller but if your crappy (like me)
then use the big one, it should be much easyer to work with.
