Either you have a bios password or your not saving the settings. If its a password thing remove the bios battery and it should reset all the settings.

Some people zip/rar/gz cd images to reduce the file's size (like with Dreamcast games). With most Linux distros they dont but its just something to know about.

I know this may sound like your stupid but, make sure both (if you have 2) cd/dvd roms are set before the hard drive.

OK. I decided to install Ubuntu/Gnoppix 5 on my spare comp. (Now I just need to figure out the Unix command line and how to install programs and that sort of thing. :P)

Can anyone help me with the command prompt? Please?

BTW it's downloading now... 650 MB, jeez! That's going to take forever to burn on my old hand-me-down CD burner in this comp. :P Giong outside for a while, maybe it will finish downloading by the time I come back in for dinner... [/ramble])

Look into some general linux books, like Linux Complete, Its old (talks about RedHat 8) but unlike things like Gnome or the kernal the BASH shell stays the same and thats what you need. I'd also say get Linux pocket guide, I got my copy for $10 and its very useful when you dont know a lot (or any) commands. I also have a document that has a list of commands, if you want it I can email it to you.

Beyond that the only other thing I can suggest if "google". Do a search and you will find at the very least 1 million sites with info about the command-line.
