Dreamcast power

I've just set up my dreamcast and I was going to play one of my games, but a few seconds ofter the Dreamcast gets to the screen where it sets up the time the screen goes blank and the disc stops spining. I've powered it up with and without the cover. Any suggestions on what to do or whats wrong.

how much power does a Dreamcast Require and how much did you put in becouse if you tripled the power it isnt good on the system.

Well I'm just using the system I was going to play games. I havent got the DC-DC power supply I want yet so its being powered via the internal ac power. I'm wondering if something is loose or what but nothing comes to mind.
