i was just curious, would a gameboy color screen work with an atari 2600 portable?

short answer: no
the long, bulky and expensive answer: yes, but not well.

please don't ask for details on the long answer--I don't have the skills or desire. If this were multiple choice, the short answer would be "the most correct".

To be blunt the GameBoy screen board and the actual gameboay board are the same thing, so there is no way to find out (well there is but you would spend hours with a multimeter and chances are you will cause the board to die anyways) what the AV plugs are.

The only way you can do this is use a GBA or SP and use the AV In card.

as i recall i saw an n64 using a gb screen...

but alas, i have the long answer...

forget about a GBA screen, its too small any way, shell out the dough and go all out for a 20 dollar 2.5 inch screen...

ive seen screens that come jammed into a controller, really happy crappy screens... but hey, they work.

You're probably thinking of Gamelver's N64p with a GBA SP:

I believe he used the AV in card or cord, which is the only realistic way to use a GBA or SP screen without making an expensive, time consuming, and very complicated board.
