Hip Gear. How good is it?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Hip Gear. How good is it?

I'm interested in buying one for modding purposes. How do Genesis games play on it? Is the resolution and speaker sound decent?

Yeah it's a great screen pretty much just like a pocklet TV. But an Intec screen is a lot cheaper, it's $20! Whereas Hip Gears are going for $45 on ebay right now.

Here is a link to the intec screen

Yeah Ramar said it runs off 6V. It's pretty much the same as a Hip Gear.

that link sent me to the page to buy Ben's book, not the Intec screen...
Are you talking about the Gamecube Intec 5 inch screens? I have one (PAL unfortunately) and it runs off 12v and it's huge (for a 5 incher) and pretty crappy. The actual sharp-made screen and components are great, but the stuff Intec slapped on is crap. I actually found the RGB inputs on the sharp screen, I just need to figure out the sync information.

I was more wondering what the resolution is like on the Hip Gear. I have a 2.5 inch pocket TV that looks pretty undesirable. I'm hoping the Hip Gear has high resolution to compensate for the small size. Anyone have any good screenshots of it?

No I was talking abot the PS2 2.6 inch screen. And the Intec GC screen can run off 7.2V, you can read about that here

It has a pretty good resolution, about the same as the pocket TV's that ben used on his PSp and SNESp. Ladyada's site has a screenshot of it running, but I don't have a link right now.

crap!

Now I'll have to get the PSone console/screen combo from gamestop. God damn, my 2.5" screen design was a lot nicer looking than my 5" design.
