I have made a lot of progress w/ my N64 PE, but have run into a problem. I am using 8 NiMH cells for power, but they do not seem to be able to provide adequate discharge (Amps) Would my best bet be to run 2*battery packs (I self made the battery pack and use it with a radioshack 9.6V rc NiMH charger) or should I switch to a different type of battery? Somewhere I read that NiCd has a higher sustainable discharge.... Is this true? is there a best type of battery for high discharge or should I just go w/ 2 packs in parallel?
RC car batteries seem to work for people but i havn't tried them yet so i can't guarantee it
EDIT: are you using an energy efficient screen? if not it could be eating too much power
I don't think it would be low discharge, because most batteries can handle well over 10A discharge, which is more than enough for an N64 and screen. Have you checked all your solder joints for a weak connection? I wouldn't suggest using the packs in parallel. Have you tried testing the batteries?

I am trying right now without the screen. What i do is check the voltage of the battery ~10v with my multimeter and then hook it up and turn on the N64 and then the voltage drops down to about 6V after a few minutes....
