Those are the one that take in as low as 6v, right? I think digi-key.com sells them for $1.50 each.

I think it's dropout is around 12 volts (I may be wrong but I know it can take that at least) and it outputs 8 volts .

7808s have an input range of about 10.2 to 36 volts, I believe
they output 8v, obviously :P
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

I don't think they carry it. They hardly have anything anymore. You'll probably have to order it from Digikey or something. I do believe RS has an adjustable regulator, though. It may be hard to figure out though...

Radioshack: What do you need

The radio shack near me has 7808s, the workers there realized long ago to leave me alone when I'm shopping since they can't help anyways :P
Anyways, they normally go for $1.50 at rat shack

yeah, whenever I walk in they say "do you need any help?" out of habit, I guess, but then they realize that I always know what I'm looking for ;)....

Ooh! Beating on RS, alright! :D

The people at all mine are all total idiots, the only thing they know is how to scam you on cell phones. They don't even know what a SPST switch is.

I tell them they are out of something, they go and look through all the drawers (after I just did the same thing) and just say"Well, we're out". Then a month later they still haven't ordered any new parts!!
