psone controller

I just got my psone controller today and cracked it open so I could wire it up and then I realized that it was different from the one it the book. Insted of having a cord that plugged into the corner of the board it had a cable that was wiered directly to the center of the board. It looks to have a diffrent pinout then the one in the book. dose anyone know what the pinout for this type of psone controller is?

Your controller is probably not an offical Sony controller.
You most likely have a after-market controller or some
other crazy crap.

No, I am having the same problem. I have one that looks exactly like the one in the book. It even says PSone on it. I have no idea what to do. please help.

There were a few revisions to it. Is it the Dual Shock controller that shipped with the PSone (rounded connector and lighter) or the PSX (boxy connector and darker)?

There are a couple board revisions of the psone model over the years. (I know mine has a large main board and a smaller one the analog sticks attach to, but I'm not surer which revision it is. and I don't own the book, either. :embarassed:

First off sorry for the large pictures....

I am interested in this post. I believe I have the same sort of problem as the OP here. Here is a picture of the two boards in my controller (1 that shipped with the psOne):

So as you can see there is a ribbon directly glued/soldered near the center right (according to the picture) area on to the analog board and the other end is glued/soldered on to the just right of centered area of the D- pad and buttons board.

I am thinking that in the long run I shouldn't have any issues with this, but I just want to verify it with people.

Here is another picture just before I removed the rumble motors and removed the boards out of the controller casing.

isnt that kind of thing erelivent? so what are you going to do with it? make some sort of extention? you could just trace the leds your self and save your self some time.

Thats what I was planning on doing, I think. I just needed some sort of verfication before I removed the ribbon. I am completely new at this and rather get advice before I do something stupid.

tracing the leads isnt so bad just find the common pin and then it gets pretty easy
