Probably an improperly seated game cart. You can just squeeze the plastic cover on the bottom and pull it off. You wont have a cover/case for the ext. game rom anymore, but then you have access to the cart. slot.

I like it when it screws up. One time Contra had a menu that had 1,2,3,4 and each one would start you with a different weapon and life total.

Reminds me of the good old days with pokemon red and a gameshark
And then the first human typed up '1337'. Faith in humanity soon plummited.

you didn't even need a gameshark to have fun with codes in pokemon!!...well, I didn't, at least....ah, such fond memories with my GBO.....
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Let's hear it...?
I installed a "PikaSwitch" in Pokémon Yellow by connecting two pins on the ROM to a switch, and the switch froze the game (no sound, perfect picture, no scrambled data). I could pull out the cartridg. It was pretty cool. Then I found a quick restarter by bridging some pins on the voltage converter (?). Cool eh?
