unnecessary capaciter?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

unnecessary capaciter?

Post by daguuy »

i got a verge screen that the video doesn't work on so i opened it up to put the 5v thing on that one pin but the place i need to connect a wire to already has a capaciter like this:

i know nothing about capaciters so i don't know if it would mess up the 5v i need. it isn't on psone screens and they work just fine. what is it for and is it OK if i remove it?

That's just a decoupling capacitor to clean up the power line. It's not really needed, but helps a bit.

The original doesn't have it because Sony probably didn't think the screen needed it (and it doesn't). However, by adding the cap, the power line is cleaned up a LOT and this removes a ton of crossover/interference (especially when combining it with your portables). So everyone---go add it!! =)
