grrr, the other forum says I can't do the expansion port...
they're obviously lying to throw me off track!

as soon as I find a reasonable c64 diagram I can see if they combined too many chips to do it. Even if the expansion port in impossible due to compact design, this unit does take standard C64 files stored by some method. I just hope that method isn't too expensive/far from standard.

I personally havent found a guide for the cart slot, but most of the people that want to run C64 programs attach the 1541 disk drive.

If you want a 1541 disk drive you can get a working one off ebay for like $20 or less +shipping.

I may have a disk drive somewhere. ...phonecall to the parents... But I also have a tape drive.
it may be slow, but I think I'd rather have an oversided walkman than a 15lb brick. MP3 may also be something to look into... If I recall those tape drives weren't very automated.

of course that site you sent me to does have a CF solution in the works. Through the serial connector. Lightning speed!

actually, it looks easy enough to build...

ooo... $20 is really tempting me to buy one of these. Wonder if I should get it right away or wait a month....
Edit:
hmm... if I pay $8 more than standard shipping I should get it by friday :P

you guys just enjoy shipping your 10lb bricks all you want to.

what do you think of this:
http://www.gamerstemple.com/features/04/itype2.asp
all the stores have them. It's a USB keyboard--plugs right into Playstation2's USB. so it stands to reason that it can be adapted to PS/2--and I don't even really think it needs the adaptor. or I could wire up my keyboard adaptor to look like my c64 has a usb port... I think I'm the only one who would find that amusing...

That's going to be my C64 keyboard...
ps2, ps/2...what's the difference?

further research:

the v2 c64dtv is due out in europe later this month. It will have 2mb of onboard flash and the required solderpoints to flash it. I think I'm going to hold off and get one of these.

2mb flash is a fair amount in c64 terms. Probably equal to what it has now with it's 30-in-1 built-in games.

ntsc isn't a problem for it, either.

curse you midwesterners and your bargains...
none in my area have ever had them, and kbtoys.com doesn't list it. toysrus.com is doing 2 for $30. I've been debating that.

also the euro one is comming out soon. Those are worth considerably more.
