Intec screen LED mod

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Really? Then I must have a retarted EL Backlight, cause I have one that runs off of ~3V DC.

I have an extra Afterburner kit. Smagoogin, google it, you will find out its just a backlight system for the original GBA. Im going to try and use that as the light source, once I get my lab cleaned up... its slowly getting there

I have never heard of an EL backlight that can be driven by DC (but I like most retards so do tell me more...)

Here is a good little comparison of EL vs. LED vs. CCFL:

I took a look into my intec screen. Its LED modable. WHat you have to do is remove the original Cold Cathode. Its under the copper plate thingie. The backlight is actually some crystal glass with a fresnel lens, and diffusive sheet. It works by taking any light souce from the top edge (where the original CCFL is) and reflecting it thru the entire piece of crystal, and into the screen. As long as you have some decent and even lighting, it should work. I say 4 or 6 ultra bright white 3mm white LEDs should fit nicely, and do a decent job.

I have ONE 3mm white LED. And im not paying 5 bux for the 5mm LEDs from radio shack. If i can hunt down my blue LEDs, ill try that and let you know the results.

An LED mod on an intec or hip gear screen is not really necessary as it will not decrease usage a lot seeing as how from what i recall it only takes around 300-400 mah.
