If you can get to the CCFL and remove it, then you can do the LED mod.

There is a metal cover around the backlight tube, you have to pull it off and then pull out the baclight tube.

Try an EL Backlight. LED Backlights arent that great. They give uneven lighting. If you cant get your hands on the right size EL "tape" then go for LEDs. You will probabbly have to get some Surface Mount LEDs, unless you make a light box. Give me a few days to get my current projects in order, and on proper disection trays, and I will tinker with my screen and let you know. Just dont pester me every day about it...

Oh, and Shmagoogin, brush your hair once and a while! Im sick of looking at your sloppy hair in the reflections! You lazy bum! lol

basically follow bens led backlight on a posket tv guide just equate it to your screen

it says in the book for pockets you remove an inverter
it says the inverter is what sucks most of the power
i think my intec screen has an inverter

EL backlights require AC, and unless you want to build a lower power DC to AC converter, using an EL will not give you a whole lot of battery savings. An LED mod is a lot simpler, and if you place your leds correctly with enough diffusion, the "uneveness" isn't that bad.
