PCp project under construction: ongoing summary + images

I'll look into it. For now, I've completed the core of my voltage circuit, using four sinked regulators in parallel. Every mention of the innefficiencies and troubles of regulators on that linked thread used "maybe" words such as "can". I have little ability to change my plans at the moment...

This is my pet, Cravy Gerbil. That is his name. He runs in circles with little or no purpose. If the my power circuit fails, I will behave in a similar manner.

I've learned a lot in these few short past hours.

1st: have a good soldering iron...a GOOD one. One that actually has a POINT, not a burnt up, blunt end!

2nd: Solder is inherently evil. It will take any chance it can to foil your plans.

3rd: you must have confidence in your ability to solder if you are to be successfull.

4th: you must get over the "I can't do it because it just isn't possible and I've never done it before" attitude. Feeling sorry for yourself and constantly worrying about your work isn't going to help you. If you make a mistake, you just gotta go back and fix it.

5th: don't fight airport security.

6th: if you have nothing to say, just say it anyways.

EDIT: tomorrow's schedule is as follows

1. wake up
2. do miscellaneous stuff required to sustain decency and life
3. complete the card-board-box PCp outer shell
4. solder battery clips together, solder clips to core power circuit, and mount in shell.
5. Do the same, accept with the AC adapter connectors
6. Do the VGA mod on the PSone LCD. I purchased a D-sub connector with solder points specifically for that purpose.

Im sorry to interrupt, but could you make that avatar a little smaller? I think theres supposed to be a 150px width limit, so the side bar isnt stretched.

Actually, the pixel limit is SUPPOSED to be 80x80, but no one seems to follow that. Besides it, I'd be happy to oblige (loads Paint, the best editing tool in all of existence)

EDIT: BTW, this is another thing I researched extensively in the past: the best possible small mammal pet.

The answer is as follows: rats. Rats are simply the most intellegent, caring, and enjoyable pet around. They are likened to dogs and cats, just smaller and with (conveniently) shorter life spans. If you want a small pet, get a rat... I said DO IT.

Note on wording: That's from Hard Forum, they deal in absolutes far too much. If something has a 90% probability of happening, you have to say 'maybe' or 'can' or you get every known exception thrown in your face.

Your first pics aren't loading anymore. There's something I was going to ask about on them, but I forget what.

My browser is still loading the pics fine. They are hosted on imageshack, which never deletes images, so perhaps your browser is giving you troubles. The pics are quite large as well: each one is about 640KB.

Currently I am: applying adhesive to key power circuit solder joints and areas of structural weakness to increase integrety.

The case will probably make use of Advanced Card-board Box Technology, or ACBT, in the PCp's first incarnation. This is due to time limitations on my end. Later on, I will create a box out of plastic.

My current limitations:

1. no dremel
2. no money
3. no time

What I have is what I get to use. I have all of the parts necessary to build my PCp already, but I cannot add anything anytime soon. In the future, I can see the PCp radically slimmed down to slightly larger than a GBO, running on 4 AA batteries and a CompactFlash card for storage.

Here are some case possibilities:

Because the USB gamepad is all one PCB, I'm going to have to stick to a mostly vertical design. Sorry, that means the Genesis case is out

You could split the controller and rewire it, that way you could move it wherever you like.

Also you might want to check out tackle boxes for a case. They go for ~$5
