Use 60 wires.

And if you mean converting the slot from famicom to NES, 60-72, theres a conversion chart on Gannon.tk.

if i rember correctly there are 12 extra pins used for security and expansions that never existed so basily you dont need those 12 (6 on each side) but i dont rember which 12 they are

Niku-sama: That's partially correct. There are 4 pins on the NES for the lockout chip, and 10 expansion pins that go to the bottom of the NES. That means there are 2 pins on the Famicom that are not on the NES. I believe that's sound in and out for sound expansion, which was not supported on the NES for whatever reason. So that means when you convert it, you only have to connect 58 pins... or perhaps even less.

2 pins on the famicom that arent on the NES but the NES has more pins than the famicom so......

dont you mean the famicom has pins that have different assignments than the NES (i.e. lock out pins # and # would be data[example] on famicom)

sorry not to be picky but i read that a few times and i knew what you meant but it can be confusing to some people

Yeah, the NES has 12 pins more, but doesn't have all of the pin assignments that the Famicom had. Sorry for the confusion.
