Netpliance modifications

When at a Ham radio festival a while back, I found a strange little kiosk-type terminal which had a Parallel port and USB on the back, as well as a LCD screen. The fact that these ports were in no way custom caught my eye, and I purchased the thing, thinking I could salvage out standard PC components out of it cheap, or pull out the LCD and maybe an external LCD controller.

The find was better than I'd hoped.

I did some searching online, and found that it is a Socket 7 PC with a 200MHz processor and a laptop harddrive connector that can be tricked to work. It also takes laptop SDRAM and has a normal PS2 connector.

I found online that it could be modified to make a VERY slim PC with LCD display, and that Linux or even Windows 98 would even run on it.

Well, it is certainly more powerful than my 100MHz laptop, and I'll see if I can use Damn Small Linux on it. If I get a bigger Hard Drive, I may try WIN2K, though.
