Nooooooo! Dont stain red oak thats a beautiful wood! The case looks great. Just put a few coats of lacure of clear epoxy (I personally like marine quality) so it says in good shape.usbcd36 wrote:Hey! It even holds the buttons so they don't rotate. Stain that baby!

Red oak is beautiful, but I do want it a little deeper red. I'm definitely going to at least put a few coats of finish on it. So far the case has taken probably over 20 hours of cutting, gluing, dremeling, and sanding. I do not suggest this type of case for newcomers to portablizing at all. That is unless you have some good wood working skills. The slits for the buttons and the little circle inset were actually easy compared to allot of the other parts.
