I want to make a New Dreamcast version

Post by Thornwillow »

I can paint the case something cool looking, i can raise the RAM, add a hard-drive which might be too hard, and maybe do a few more things to it, is it possible?

Possible, most definitely. Could you do it? I'm not familiar enough with you to say, but let's just say Ben Heck probably would find it a challenge to do everything you mentioned.

I have have formal (i.e. I've taken college courses) electronics training, I am fairly good with a soldering iron, and I've never even attempted the harddrive mod because it looks so hard. There three people that have made DC harddrive adapters that I know about. I've not heard of a RAM upgrade being done, though it's talked about a lot.

Oh yeah, increase the cooling and overclock the Dreamcast while you're at it. I'd grab the 54MHz from the graphics chip instead of inputing a separate clock signal, for 324MHz, if you have really good cooling.

LOL. I'm not cool, I'm burning red because you are only on the other side of the Earth. You're too close for me to be cool right now.

Actually, I really am burning right now. LOL. True fact.

Hmmm...I'm interested in the hard drive mod...I've had formal electronics training as well, and might try that just for kicks.
Warranty-Voiding fun!
