School Hacking

I was bored one day as I usually am in the computer lab at school with half an hour to burn. I had nothing to do so I started searching around on the computer. Surprisingly i found a few interesting things.
First of all I found that I am one of three kids in the school that has system preferences, which lets me change my backround, and screen saver among other things.
Second, I found that a Tony Hawk 4 demo was preinstalled on every computer. Unfortunatly the tech teacher found out, and made it so you cant use it. Finally I found a way to set the schools master password for all the computers. I dont know what the former password is, but I can easily get the tech person to type it in to the computer for me, and Ill just see what she types.
Does anyone else have any good hacks that theyve done at school? If you do please say how to do them as well.

Not really hacks but hey!

One of the things thats fun in college is to send messages over the network to each other =) Had a longgggggg list of IPs for each computers & the user of it.

Stupidly we each have our own folder on the network hard drive (accessible from every computer on the network) to store our work in, which isnt password protected or anything - A simple CTRL + A, DELETE, ENTER and everyones work is gone...

I put a lot of games/emulators/roms on the network hard drive under the folder name "mike shinoda" (dude out of linkin park) and the tutors dont know!

Hours a day we all spend playing mortal kombat 3 on ZSNES over lan

Maybe this should be "How you abused the school/college computers" ?

How about this:
I set up my own cable modem at school, crashed the gateway then set up my own, and redirected the entire schools traffic through my modem

lemme see... there were a few things I did...

First off, during the summer of my freshman-sophmore year, the school switched from a hub-based to a switch-and-router based network. My old Ethernet hub, which worked the previous year, brought down the entire network.

I have an Excel spreadsheet with all the data for all the PCs in my classrooms (the rooms of the courses I take at least.). It contains IPs, admin passwords, passwords for logging programs, and all that stuff. FUN!

And it's only on my personal laptop, so nobody else has access to that data.

I set up all the machines to spontaneously start up at 8:00 PM on Fridays. They all update Norton Antivrus, scan for viruses, update and run ad-aware, and defrag before they shut down again. It may not be mischevious, but it saves me a buttload of work.

I set the wallpaper on a couple machines as a screenshot of the screen of a windows system error window superimposed on the empty space.

I have set up shared folders on library computers, which I use to hold stuff I need on several machines.

For the longest time, we had a comp with no scren to go with it. So I plugged it in under my desk and used it as an intraweb server. (MP3s, games, etc... Can't get to it outside the building, though.

)

I hacked the hosts file to redirect several pages people aren't supposed to go to that the content filter passed. (places like anime pr0n sites, rippersanime, several hacker's forums... stuff like that.)

There's a half-dead PC on my desk with Windows 3.11 on it. (somebody donated it, the hard drive is dying, not really worth fixing until September.)

And it really screwed people up when I put the command "moslo /25 C:\windows\win" in the autoexec.bat file.

Thats pretty sweet. How did you not get caught? Bicostp, i read in another thread about how you put a red error message on everyones computer. How did you do that? Do you need to write software for most hacks? BTW, rotteneggs.com has a section on hacking school computers.

Well, my school had almost no protection. We had full access to all the media and files on the computer's local drives. Also, EVERYONE know how to disable the web filters we had. ^^* If I knew then what I know now, I could EASILY wreak havoc on them. Oh, and every computer (even the teachers' computers) had Unreal Tournament. It was like a two year LAN party!

since my dad was the vice principle at my high school, i basically got executive privilages neat right?

well of course they are going to turn the 'blind eye' on me. so we would load up the network storage with emus, videos, and i think i installed halflife at one point.

If I remember right, I just made an image or something and put a scheduled task into the appropriate folder that triggered it.

And don't get me started about the chaos that can ensue when you make simple programs in QuickBasic...

How do you download something, so that everyone has it? Do you need to be an administrator. I want to download some obscene music from itunes (our school has an account, and you can download whatever you want as long as they dont catch you) and then play it on everyones computer all day long. Ive also just about figured out how to play a movie on every tv in the school.

Ahhhh...school hacking, this is my "other" hobby besides portables. What do you wan't to do...I can tell you how to do almost anything with school computers. It all depends on the "security" that the school computers have. My school has a lot of securit keeping you from doing almost...anything, but that never stoped me.

As of now, lets see what have I don't so far? I have about 90% of all the files on the main school server, I've sent a few netsend that said stuff like " All your base are belong to us",did a few "computer shuts it self off errors", Got everones password, and of corse locked up a few peoples keyboards.

I never would do anthing bad like delete someones 10 page Report or anything like that, I just like to screw around with peoples heads.

How do you use NETSEND to send meaasges to machines?

I want to send ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US and "LLEH 999" to people!

The school PCs in the library keep you from clicking anything but RESTART on the start menu, and lock you out of the My Computer icon. BUT if you type "C:\" into the address bar, you have all-access!

I would never do anything really mean to anyone, like deleting documents, but I do like scaring people!

I agree G-Prime. Though technically all hacing ins't really right, deleting people's files, or changing your grades ujust isnt rgiht. Messing with peoples heads/computers, and doing fun stuff is okay, but destroying stuff isnt.

If you can use Ms-Dos on your computers just open it up and type in
NET SEND * all your base are belong to us

If you can't, open up a text pad and type in
@echo off
NET SEND * all your base are belong to us
end
and make it a .bat file and open it]

Edit: If you just wan't to send it to one person change the * to the persons account name. if you use the * it sends it to everyone in the school.

Yes, we used NETSEND as well in college. Of course, in one of my classes at least, this was encouraged. NETSEND was part of our class. Combined with my new knowledge of DOS programming, and my existing QBasic and Visual Basic skills, I can really freak people out. ^^*
