I've rewired it....it's really not that hard, you just gotta have some patience (and a desoldering iron :P)
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

I did this a year ago, but I just haven't found or made a good enough case for it. It is actually pretty easy to do one you have done it a couple times.
I messed up some of the traces on the bottom so I had to solder and desolder all those wires on there three times! :x Now I could do it in 30 minutes. Just to let you know the bottom of some of the first generation snes connectors can snap on and off(like in pic 3), but you still need to desolder the bottom of the connoctor off the pcb. I think it's good to make groups of wires. There is less stress on everything. After I soldered the wires to the connector, I put heat shrink tubing on every connection to the connector. Also, the tape isn't holding anything on. It's just there so it looks tidy.

I probably would but I'm working on some really cool cases right now. I just finished the design a couple days ago.

Since it is your first portable, then I suggest not moving the cart slot. You are still learning, and you want the construction to be as simple as possible.

I learned that the hard way.
My first SNES portable had a relocated cart slot, but it took forever to finish. The solder joints are brittle and will break after too much bending. Then it is a total pain to remove the broken wire from the motherboard.

Unless it is absolutely necessary to relocate, just leave the slot where it is and incorporate that design into your case.

My model II SNESp uses the cart slot in its original position, and it turned out pretty well.
There's my advice, but it's your call.
If all else fails, take it apart!
