Language Filter

[rant]I was thinking today, the posts I make and the language filter, yes, its all safe-for-kids forum, but words like excrement are not commonly used these days are they? And the language used by kids and tennagers these days is a lot worse than it ever was[/rant]

I've thought about that before. And I have to agree. There are times in which the word s-h-i-t gives a much more needed effect over crap. I don't know. I'm not an admin.

Well yes obviously many young kids have bad language but there's also many that probably don't. The idea is to not offend those kids, or make their parents upset at this website.

Some websites have "18 and over" only warnings (like the Onion) while others are just as vulgar and don't. As for this site, I try to keep it fairly PG and on the fence.

So if it's language you wouldn't hear in, say, a Star Wars film then it's not for this board.

But you can say "Then I'll see you in Hell after my Tautaun freezes that damn fool!"

Or even better, crap. The F-word is a bit harder, since it can have so many meanings, but copulate is not the best choice. Maybe "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" since that's what it really stands for

I have been thinking about this for a couple weeks now, and I agree. I think the filter is good, but I think it should be changed to f*** and s***, or even fish and carp.
