Hey guys,
I'm using a PSone for my portable Sega system but I've run into a small issue concerning power- The Screen uses 7.5v but Sega AC adapters ouput 10-11v (which converts to 5v and 3v in my system). I would like to keep the system universally suited for Sega AC Adapters though, so I'm looking to get the screen running off 5v. The 7.5v power supply runs to 3 places I know of: 2 7805s (which convert to 5v) and the light source. I've run 5v to these lines and I get the screen lit and everything, but when I plug the screen in using the ribbon cable it doesn't dim like it should...it just stays a white screen. Does anyone have and ideas how I can get this screen running off 5v? Post your thoughts here, I think this would definitely help for other portables too!

There might be to little or to much volts. You could try replacing the 7805's with low drop out ones.

you can never have too many amps. Amps are drawn, and represent life before charging if with batteries. Volts, on the other hand, are forced and can fry what you have.

Does the system run on 7.5V? If not, you can replace the 7805 with a regulator that has a lower dropout.

I ment volts. Cause I shorted one of the 7805s and it stayed at the white screen too but it worked after I desoldered the wire. I would replace them with ldo ones.

I don't see how a lower drop out would work since the it needs the full 5v....I guess I'll just have to run it off 7.2 after all :/
