I think they're remaking movies because of two reasons. One is that most other ideas in Hollywood sucks, two is that its easier to make something new and release it. This is like Microsoft with windows 95-ME, all they do is slap some new things one it and presto its new and so better then what preseded it.

As for the Planet of the Apes. In the DVD case they explain that according to Einstein you cant travel back and forth through time like in the original PotA movies. You know what I have to say, if you can make a movie about global warming causing an Ice age the next day why are they going to hold to a real world physicis idea?

Willy Wonka/Charlie and the Chocolate factory, I dont see as too bad. It depents are the going to hold closer to the book or the movie as they are rather differnt (in the book the father is alive).

I think Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory looks like a douche, I think a lot of his other movies are very good, but this one just looks plain horrible.

House of Wax- crap

Amityville Horror- Didnt see it, but c'mon...crap.

Dune mini-series -- The original movie was okay, but the miniseries....crap.

Longest Yard - Didnt see the original, dont want to see the original. Dont want to see the remake because its...crap.

Planet of the Apes remake was okay...but compared to the original...I'm tired of swearing.

In general, all remakes are crap, theres no denying it, in the office of the man that says "yes, lets make this movie" and "no, this script sucks" there should be a shotgun pointed at the door, with a rope on the trigger. Then, thered be a camera pointed at the waist-level area of the door, zoomed in. When some douche walks in, holding he script at his side, the title is zoomed it on a monitor on the guys desk. "Oh? A remake?" <pull rope, boom>.
