Movies that should NEVER be remade EVER

Post by gamer2 »

have you noticed that a lot of remakes of movies are total crap and the originals are totaly and utterly ruined forever. What are some movies that shouldnt ever be remade

it think "monty python and the Holy Grail" should never be remade becouse they would ruin the Black Knight part

i think 80% of books that were made into movies should never have been made and all movies based on videogames UNLESS they stayed true to the story line and didnt suck ass

Famous movies:

That should NEVER be remade: (but famous enough that Hollywood probably will try)

Casablanca
It's A Wonderful Life
Wizard of Oz
King Kong WHOOPS! Twice now!
Ben-Hur
The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (One of my favorite movies!)

Recent movie remakes that have pissed me off:

Planet of the Apes: The original is also a favorite of mine, but the new one threw all the interesting religion vs. Darwinism undertones out the window and just was a dumb action movie. Then they stick on a completely stupid "twist" (Ape Lincoln) because the original had a twist. Yes, but the original twist MADE SENSE!

House on Haunted Hill: The original is a camp classic and I like it a lot. I always thought it'd be cool (for me) to remake it. Then they crap out a remake that (from what I hear) has little to do with the original. UG!

I think there's nothing wrong with remaking a movie that didn't quite work the first time but had a good premise. Problem is they usually remake CLASSIC movies (ahem PSYCHO by Gus Van Sant)

Finally, here's a few old movies that while well known aren't all that great but could be made into good remakes:

Soylent Green: Again with Chuck. Anyway it's a future where overpopulation causes old people to be euthanised and turned into food. (and the classic line "SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!") An interesting idea but the movie itself was pretty hokey.

Logan's Run: Again with the overpopulation! It's a future where you're euthanised at age 30. Logan and his babe (a still-hot Farrah Faucet (sp?)) RUN (hence the title) and try to find a safe haven or something. See also Michael Bay's The Island coming this summer.

if Wes Craven redid Last house on the left people would try to ban couse the original was scary. OR THE HILLS HAVE EYES

I think Wizard of oz was remade in the 70's with Richard Pryor as the Wizard

What about Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. I can't believe they are making it into a comedy...
