HELP!

I have a microphone, and I pluged it into the proper jack and it didn't work
next I went into sound recorder and hit record and made noises but the line did not move, so I need some help on how I can get it to work

double click on the speaker in the lower right corner, and you'll go to the volume properties. Next, unmute the mic and raise the volume. That should take care of it.

If you have a "Line In" input, stick it in there, instead of the mic input. Had to do that on my old computer(which holds up the ed of my bed now), even though it had a mic line.

yeah, or it could be that your recording program is looking at the line socket, now that you mention it.

1. right-click the speaker icon
2. select Open volume controls
3. under the File menu, select Properties.
4. click the bubble next to Recording and press OK.
5. make sure the microphone check box is selected and the volume isn't at the bottom.
6. close the volume control and try again.

well thats what buell said a couple lines up. I'm also gonna say line-in. Though on my linux box it was alasmixer
