Does anyone know how to get a CD Drive to work off battiers

I have a old CD drive from my computer that I'm making in to a CD player. I already know how to make it play the CD's, I just need to be able to make it run off a wall adapter or battires. Thanks for the help

If it is a desktop CD drive: you need both 5v and 12v to run it, so the easiest way would be to build two arrays of batteries, one yeilding 5v and the other 12v, and soldering those arrays to the correct molex pins for power input on the drive. Desktop CD drives notoriously demand an incredible amount of power to run.

Laptop CD drive would be easier, as they tend to just take 5v and they use less power to operate. Once again you would create an array of batteries yeilding 5v and solder the leads to the correct power input pins.

instaed of getting to different sets of batteries, just get a 12v battery and a 7805. that way you get 12v and 5v with 1 battery

I'm assuming a 7805 is some type of voltage regulator?

Yea, one of the most common outside of the LM317.
