original Playstation power usage

i was wondering what the original Playstation you know the Big-uns took in for power in VOLTS.

It also needs 3.5 volts, which is probibly used to power the cd-rom.

Considering that you need only a dc-dc converter for the N64 well with a PS(X) you'll need two it will be much faster and easier to build the N64.

What to power the PS(X)? No, your going to be running the thing off of batteries so you'll have to make a new power supply. The standard one take 110v ac down to 12v cd you dont need have that stuff. Just get 2 power regulators/ dc-dc converters, one for 8v one for 3.5v and runn them off of either 8.4v battery or 9.6 and you'll be set.

would an 8 AA which is 12v battery holder be too much for the DC-DC converter

Well the dc-dc converters used with the N64 take 12v I dont see and problem. Besides if your looking for a cheap dc-dc converter many members have said to use a car adapter.

A GBA car adapter or Disc-man one will work anything that takes the voltage down to ~3v. You may find one that is 3.5v that will be better or see if there is a 4v, both should work.

I'm sure there are some out there dont know of any I've seen though. As for cost those things are relitivity cheap, you can get a GBA car adapter off ebay for ~$5 (before shipping), or electroic places/any place that sells car adapters for electonics should have them.

By the end of the day i may have an A-Cup Playstation 1 (PSone) so how much power is need for that one.
