Video games causing obesity? I don't think so... Actually, I think Nintendo games can do quite the opposite. Whenever my little brothers would play video games, for some reason they would always jump up and down while playing, particularly during intense moments in the game. I don't know how they could possibly focus on the screen if they're jumping. I always thought it was strange for them to do that, but since then, at stores and stuff, I've seen several other kids jumping up and down while playing video games... I guess that's one way to get your exercise.

I blame child obesity on the overabundance of fast food joints.

Ever watch the movie "Super Size Me?" The guy held flashcards in front of a group of kids in the middle of the movie. The first card, one kid knew the answer. (It was George Washington) The second, nobody knew (George W Bush) The third got completely clueless responses from kids (It was... uh.. [ATHF]gee-wiz[/ATHF]) And all 30 kids knew who the last one was... RONALD McDONALD. This kind of child-oriented advertizing "programs" kids to turn to fast food over healthy choices.

What we need is a new character to tell kids what's right and what's wrong. Back in the early 80's it was Mr. T. You ate your vegetables. Why? BECAUSE MR.T SAID SO. And remember the cartoons of the day? Every episode would end with a Public Serice Announcement. Remember the end of shows like GI Joe? "Remember kids, when you drink, nobody wins. GI JOE!". We need more children's fictional heroes to press health and excersise. Imagine what kids would think if, at the end of the show, thir favorite anime characters came out with big glasses of milk. They would probably say "Heck with this Gatorate, gimme milk!"

Of couse, that's wishful thinking.

you know, Nintendo could have ended Child obesity pretty much if they kept their power pad. Not only did you have to run, but on most surfaces (carpet) you had to stomp on that thing. Great exercise, I tell ya! And no, those DDR pads don't count, since you just have to step on them.
