Soldering is easy, just practice a bit. Desoldering is easy on anything that isn't big or fragile. Heat up the solder, then bang the side against a table. Solder will come right off.

yea, before i decide to do a mod to my n64 that im using for my new portable, i use my tester console to test solder to for a few reasons 1) its easier after you do it once and get familar with the method 2) u dont instantly mess up ur good console 3) its a tester console for a reason,, u should probably try soldering to some switches and wires, and learn how to tin wire, and presolder conncections... dont jump right into ur n64 w/ a 800 degree iron before you get the method down

if ur gonna answer bluntly no, at least tell him what he needs, i think that was more the point of his question...

anyway, u can pickup a 10 dollar weller soldering iron from lowes. or goto radioshack and get an iron, do not get a soldering gun, u need an iron..., and make sure its at least 30+ watts, but 30 will do...

10 dollars for a wellar???

You guys really get stuff cheap over there. We sell them in our shop for £13.99 (about $26), and that's the cheapest around.

I might go back to the states this year, I got loadsa stuff cheap last year.

Also, a Soldering Iron is more like a pen than an Iron in shape, in case you were getting them confused.

Buy a $10 soldering iorn from RadioShack, and pick up a few miscellaneous parts from Lowes, and you can build a professional soldering station dirt cheap! :D

It's in the "Professional Soldering Station DIY" thread in F42.

*if u were gonna go solder, (if you could) with a clothes iron, i dunno what u would be doing, but melting all ur solder, and smoothing it and pressing out all the wrinkles? ,( goes and finds starch)
