website making tutorial?

i want to make a website *gasp* but i have no idea can anyone suggest a guide?

o am interested in uploading pictures but this can also be through another service ie. imageshack. i also want to upload an n64 card relocation guide

edit oh and my friend is pretty good at html and java maybe he could write somthin up and i could give it to u its still just a maybe i dont know if he would do it

Get Macromedia Dreamweaver, its good, I only use it for actual coding though, dunno how great the non-code webpage making thing is.

The way I learned HTML is by looking at other code and modifying it. Once you get how it works in general (how tags and atributes work) get a cheatsheet, and print it out for easy reference (don't be afraid to get one that has several pages, like I did) Then, make your page how you want to make it. I recommend HTML-Kit for an editor, since it works well (or, if you are using Linux, Bluefish is pretty good as well)

The one thing to really focus on is tables and CSS. These give you a lot of power with the layout of your site. In fact, PoD is largely based on tables.

If you are the kind that likes to use book, I bought "Sam's teach yourself HTML in 24 hours" at a thrift store, and it works really well for the things I haven't done before. The for dummies series are pretty good, too... though I haven't read their HTML one.

Yeah I have Sams Teach Yourself HTML in 24 Hours, its good, better than others I've seen, and covers all the bases.

Just use FrontPage if you don't care to actually learn a language like HTML.

Geocities isn't really all that great, because they only give you 15MB of space and a piddling amount of bandwidth. Go with FrontPage(or a free version of it, search for web site authoring programs)
I recommend 100webspace, FrontPage, and go to www.dot.tk and get yourself a more easily remembered domain name than "*o*.coconia.net (or whatever they give you.)

If you wan't to make some good websits learn HTML and PHP form http://www.w3schools.com/ . Then get yorself a copy of Dreamweaver (lots of money...got mine for free

) Dreamweaver is hard to use at first but you well get the hang of it. The best way to learn Dreamweaver is to just use a template and change what you want. Also Paint Shop Pro helps a lot when making wesites, you can get a 60 day free trial off thier website.

i use frontpage, it works with only the normal MS levels of frustration. some annoying thigns but its a decent program.

Also, to edit pages, just use notepad to look at the code and save it then open the .html file to see your changes, not the best way to do things but it works.
